"radio has been denied Superuser permissions" – keep getting this message after rooting my Galaxy S 2
Apart from pushing the radio out of the task manager's list (i.e. killing the command), I have not found means against this yet.

finally fixed this problem with Google Maps on my Android smartphone: "please enable google apps location access"
[Android] What is "Please enable Google apps location access" error in Google Maps and how to fix it [dotTech Explains] | Reviews, news, tips, and tricks | dotTech
My Android smartphone wouldn't let me simply enable determining my location via GPS within Google Maps. It complained: "please enable google apps location access". The above article pointed me "here": System settings > Accounts > Google > Privacy > Locations settings > "Let Google apps access your location".
I think, with my smartphone "out there" I had run into this problem quite a few times during the last couple of months, never really properly investigating it at my desk. The investigation didn't really cost me a lot of time, but … you know … – now at least the issue is solved.

I started using WhatsApp last night
WhatsApp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My 1st device to start the WhatsApp with was my Samsung Galaxy S2. I sat on the bus going through Hamburg St. Pauli, and my mobile phone Internet connection wasn't really all that stable. It changed from 3G (whatever variant of UMTS) through E (EDGE) through G (GSM), and WhatsApp kept saying "Initializing …" for ages. I looked the situation up on the Internet, once I was at my place, and I was a little worried. I decided to simply end the respective active application, to go through Wi-Fi on the Android device this time, and start it again. In other words: no I did not attempt to wipe the installation on the device. WhatsApp came back almost instantly and successfully, and I had a registered account from then on.
Is it true, (quoting from the Wikipedia article) "that WhatsApp required users to upload their entire mobile phone's address book to WhatsApp servers so that WhatsApp could discover who, among the users' existing contacts, is available via WhatsApp"? Damn WhatsApp, if they dare to spam my contacts!
From the WhatsApp FAQ: "Is my device supported?" [link]
… We currently do not support tablets, computers, or Wi-Fi only devices, and do not plan to do so in the foreseeable future.
It's hard to say, where WhatsApp is really going to (how they want to make money), and why to prevent non-phones to get involved.
I think, for the time being, I am going to start WhatsApp only on demand.
In theory using "a general XMPP client" is superior over using separate dedicated ones. But WTF why do people use WhatsApp? They don't need to enter passwords, they don't need to find and add their contacts, as their contacts are simply identified by their mobile phone number. Enough "pros"? Not that I really suggest WhatsApp because of these reasons.

rewarded my appreciated "Samsung Galaxy S II" with a new rechargeable battery
Samsung Galaxy S II - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The last battery recently fainted in the middle of the day after several SMSs or after a few pictures taken on the camera.
I still very much like that phone.
Strange enough I broke the cover a while ago. Strange – because I have a protective case around its back / cover.

my Android smartphone as FM radio "via speaker"
I have had mobile phones / smartphones with "FM radio" applications for quite a while now, and I had also learned, that they use earphones as antenna / aerial. Somehow I had implied, that would mean I would have to listen to the broadcast via earphones. I took me a while to let the idea grow, how nice it would be to be able to listen to the broadcast via speaker nevertheless. Well, the "FM radio" application on my Samsung Galaxy SII already has that feature. Nice. That way I don't need to waste bandwidth for streaming my favourite broadcasting stations over the Internet any longer. If I had only known that for a little longer! What a waste! I am so embarrassed.

Galaxy S II: The Missing Manual - O'Reilly Media
Galaxy S II: The Missing Manual - O'Reilly Media
This book describes the Android 2.x firmware.
I guess, after the upgrade to the Ice Cream Sandwich (4.x) Android firmware, this book will not properly describe the smart phone any longer.

my "Samsung Galaxy S II" is in "Safe mode" –– what the heck?
What takes you there? Apparently pressing the menu button during start up takes you there. I did not do that on intention. Whatever … – alright, rebooted, resolved.

the Android Contacts app on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is operational again
It had blown up immediately after starting it for a couple of weeks right now, and I was quite a little desperate about it, but then I was also too lazy investigating the case, because I was busy with other things.
Today I was ready to look into it, and search the web for it, or to describe the case in the right mailing list or where ever.
But before doing that, I tried this and that on the tablet. Went into Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Contacts.
I just clicked on "Force stop" and then "Clear data", started the app again, and everything was fine.
Why didn't I try that before? I wasn't confident enough with Android and this Samsung tablet. I got some literature, but I don't manage to read it. Too many important issues.
Update;
Actually the Contacts / Contacts Storage app on my Samsung Galaxy SII smart-phone got corrupted the same way. I applied the same procedure as above, and I can properly work with my address book there as well again. Relief!

changing the Google account of a droid is a pain
Looks like I started setting up the SII with the "wrong" Google account: the Google Apps account.
I got the idea to associate the droid with another Google account, but that only works after a complete reset of the droid.

Samsung GALAXY S II - mine since today
Samsung GALAXY S II
I actually owe a lot of thanks to SP, who didn't manage to get me the cheap and simple Huawei at any local Lidl shop at Berlin on the 1st Septembre. She didn't even seriously try to get me one, but at least she got her own, and she doesn't manage to activate the Internet access. But then: who needs Internet access in the street with a smart-phone. Maybe only me and few millions ...
